On Sunday Oxford CC beat Henley CC in the final of Oxfordshire's 20 over cup competition. It was a bleak drizzly day at Bicester and North but we came away will a strong feeling that those involved on and off the field wanted the day to be a success. The Oxford Mail link is below but could I take this opportunity of repeating my very rushed presentation speech by making a few key points again.
* The competition is funded by the Bernard Tollett fund and we remain very grateful to the Tollett family for continuing to support us. Bernard would have been proud of both the game and the spirit on Sunday.
* 32 affiliated clubs entered this competition out the 82 affiliated clubs to the Oxfordshire Cricket Board.
* Kidlington CC and Bicester & North Oxford CC were the other semi-finalists. Both acquitted themselves well. It was great to see so many players stay on to support the final.
* The OCB would like to thank Chris Bishop's Clubs and Competition Board Committee for organising the event, in particular Dick Giles and Peter Fenn who did the bulk of the organising.
* BNOCC continue to be a loyal and committed supporter of the OCB by providing grounds and facilities for County games and Competitions at all levels.
* Graham Savin provided an excellent ground and a wicket which even in tough conditions produced 320 plus runs in the final.
* The umpires on the day were resilient and supportive.
* The scorers were diligent and patient.
* It was great to see Henley CC in their first final and we should congratulate Jason Harrison and his Oxford team on a fine performance to win a tight and gripping final.
* Thanks to all players, officials and clubs who supported the previous rounds.
The Oxford Mail link is below, as always an excellent report from Ed.
